The Skagen Painters
The Skagen Painters include not only painters but also writers.
While only a few were residents of the Skagen area many artists
visited their friends in the summertime . Among these famous visitors
were writers Holger Drachmann, Georg Brandes, and Henrik Pontoppidan,
artists Peder Severin Krøyer, Marie Triepcke Krøyer Alfvén, Christian
Krohg, Michael Ancher and Anna Ancher, and composer Hugo Alfvén.
Centre for their activities were often at the area's Brøndums Hotel
which still is in operation today.
