a long and complex history in Japanese art.
Manga
are widely read by people of all ages in Japan. A broad
range of subjects and topics occur in manga, action, adventure,
romance, sports, games, historical drama, comedy, science
fiction, fantasy, mystery, horror and sexuality.
Manga
have become a major publishing industry in Japan and have
also become increasingly popular worldwide.
Manga are
usually serialized in magazines containing many different
stories. Each story is presented in a single episode to
be continued in the next issue.

The first recorded use
of the term manga, whimsical or impromptu pictures,
comes from Hokusai Manga, which is a 15 volume book collection
with nearly 4,000 sketches that was published in 1814.

as a term outside of Japan refers specifically to comics originally
published in Japan.
The influence of manga on international cartoon
market has grown in the last ten years.
The reading direction in a traditional manga is from top to bottom
and right to left. This is the traditional reading pattern of the
Japanese written language. Some publishers of translated manga flip
the pages horizontally to left to right to not confuse foreign readers
or traditional comics consumers.

Hentai is a Japanese word for metamorphosis,
abnormality or sexually perverted. The term is
often used as slang for sexually explicit or pornographic
comics, animations, anime, manga or pornographic computer/Internet
games.
Hentai anime and manga allow sexual fantasies
and pornographic to be represented in ways that would be
impossible to other media or film. Hentai could include
sexual acts unacceptable to social norms which includes
extreme bondage, creatures with tentacles, fetishes, under
age persons and gang rape.
