Contemporary art galleries are usually open to the public
without charge. Commercial galleries usually take a cut
of the art's sales; from 25 to 50%. There are many not-for-profit
and artist run galleries. Some galleries charge the artists
a flat rate. This is considered distasteful in international
art markets. Curators often create group shows. Galleries
often choose to represent artists exclusively as an agent
and giving them the opportunity to show regularly.
